Pimples :

Pimples also known as acne mainly affects the skin with high number of oil glands like face, back and upper part of the chest. Pimples are pus filled, sometimes painful , bumps on the skin. One of the major problems of pimples or acne are its negative effects on self esteem and confidence , depression etc,. for many individuals. High incidence of genetic component is seen in acne . Other factors include diet, androgens (increase the sebum production) bacteria (cutibacterium acnes). Acne commonly occurs in adolescence effecting many teenagers.

Although it becomes less common in adulthood it may persist even in twenties and thirties in some. Acne can be mild , moderate and severe and treated accordingly. There can be fungal acne, cystic acne (pus filled pimples and nodules and may leave scars after healing), hormonal acne, nodular acne. Both cystic and nodular acne can lead to a permanent skin damage as scarring if not treated . It is treated based on the type and cause with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, azelic acid, retinoids, antibiotics , food and lifestyle modifications also helps.
