Phototherapy :
Phototherapy is special type of blue light used to treatment for Jaundice in babies, This blue light is absorbed in to the baby's skin helps the baby's liver to break down bilirubin in their blood, so that baby can get rid of it more easily. Phototherapy is used only for moderate jaundice not for mild jaundice, while giving phototherapy eyes and genital will be covered . In some cases, phototherapy is required for 24hrs or less, in some cases, it may required for 5 to 7 days. Bilirubin will be checked every 4 to 6 hours after phototherapy started. Breast feeding can continue in phototherapy. Phototherapy has side effects like redness, dry skin, blisters, dehydration. .
