Pancreatic Cancer :
The pancreas is a gland in near the stomach. It produces the hormones that control the sugar levels in the blood. Pancreatic cancer develops when the cells in the pancreas mutate and multiply rapidly. The mutated cells form a growth called a tumour. However, if a pancreatic tumour is in the early-stages of growth, then it may not appear on imaging tests. Additionally, early-stage pancreatic cancer does not cause any symptoms. For these reasons, pancreatic cancer goes undetected in the early stages.
As the tumour grows, it can cause symptoms like pain in the abdomen, jaundice, dark urine, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, bloating and blood clots. The diagnosis of pancreatic cancer requires several tests, including CT scan, blood tests, a laparoscopy, and genetic testing. The treatment of this disease requires surgery to remove the pancreas and surrounding tissues. Treatment may also involve radiation therapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapy.
