Lasik :
Lasik refers to Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, an elective eye surgery performed to correct vision problems. Lasik is usually indicated to deal with vision problems like farsightedness or hyperopia, astigmatism and nearsightedness or myopia. Lasik surgery corrects the vision and helps in reshaping the cornea if the shape of the cornea changes due to these complaints. The side effects of lasik include dry eyes, undercorrections, glare and double vision, overcorrections, flap problems, astigmatism, regression, vision changes, and corneal ectasia. Lasik is contraindicated for patients with autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, constant dry eyes, a weakened immune system caused due to immunosuppressive medications or HIV, recent changes in the vision due to medicines, hormonal changes, pregnancy, breastfeeding and age related, issues related to cornea, including corneal ectasia or keratoconus, lid disorders, eye diseases such as uveitis, eye injuries, herpes simplex affecting the eye, cataracts or glaucoma.
