Iritis :

Iritis, also known as uveitis, refers to inflammation of the colored part of the eye called iris. Symptoms of uveitis are eye pain, eye irritation, red eye, light sensitivity, swollen conjunctiva, changes in pupil shape, and a white lid accumulating at the bottom of the eye. It occurs due to infections, systemic causes, injuries, and medication. Infections include herpes simplex virus, chicken pox, shingles, cytomegalovirus, syphilis, tuberculosis, candidiasis, aspergillosis, toxoplasmosis, and toxocariasis. Systemic causes include inflammatory bowel disease, sarcoidosis, Behcet's disease, lupus, and tubulointerstitial nephritis. Medications include cidofovir, rifabutin, bisphosphonates, brimonidine eye drops, and tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Complications can be loss of vision, blindness, cataracts, cystoid macular edema, detached retina, glaucoma, high intraocular pressure, macular pucker, optic nerve, and synechiae.
