Heart Stroke :
A heart attack is sometimes called a heart stroke by people who are not in the medical field. It is a serious problem in the heart that involves the narrowing of the heart's blood vessels. Such a narrowing reduces the blood flow to the heart muscle and the heart stops beating as it should. The symptoms of a heart attack include sweating, chest pain, throat discomfort, dizziness and palpitations.
It is important to call an ambulance or visit an emergency room when such symptoms develop. Heart attacks require immediate treatment with medications and supplemental oxygen. Once the symptoms subside, a cardiologist will order tests like EKG, chest X-ray and cardiac MRI to diagnose the underlying problem. The patient may require lifelong medications and major lifestyle changes. In some cases, a cardiologist may suggest an angioplasty for long-term relief.
