Heart Blocks :
Heart block is a conduction disorder occurs in the heart that causes impairment and or delay in electrical signals from atria(upper chambers) to ventricles(lower chambers of heart) disrupting the heart's normal rhythm. It can vary in severity like first-degree heart block, second-degree heart block and third-degree heart block (complete heart block). Heart block can occur due to various reasons which includes coronary artery disease, heart attack, infection like endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, scarring of heart tissue due to unknown causes, congenital heart conditions etc.
Signs and symptoms of heart block depends upon the stage of the block and range from mild to severe that includes fatigue, dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain, palpitations etc. It can be diagnosed with ECG or EKG, Holter monitoring, echocardiogram ,stress test etc. Treatment includes medications, pacemaker therapy, CRT, catheter ablation if necessary and other supportive care
