Hearing Loss :
Hearing loss occurs when a person finds it difficult to hear certain sounds and follow conversations around. Hearing loss is divided into various types such as sensorial hearing loss, conductive hearing loss and mixed hearing loss. The significant signs of hearing loss are having difficulty making a conversation over the telephone or in a noisy environment, thinking that people are mumbling, asking people often to repeat what they initially said, inability to hear high-pitched sounds, tinnitus, feeling pressure or fluid inside the ear, earaches, dizziness and balance problems. The causative factors of conductive hearing loss include fluid in the middle ear due to cold or allergies, middle ear infections, swimmer's ear, ruptured eardrum, eustachian tube dysfunction, congenital conditions and ear tumours. Sensoneural hearing loss occurs due to ageing, illnesses like ototoxicity, congenital infections like cytomegalovirus, coronary artery disease, genetic conditions, high blood pressure, noise- induced hearing loss, stroke and diabetes.
