Gastrectomy :
Gastrectomy can be described as the removal of the stomach. Gastrectomy can be done in case of stomach cancer, and one can further live without a stomach. There are two main types of gastrectomy: total gastrectomy and partial gastrectomy. Gastrectomy can be used to treat many conditions, such as gastritis, obesity, benign tumours in the stomach, peptic ulcer disease, and any injuries to the stomach. Gastrectomy will be performed under anesthesia, in which a catheter is inserted to drain the urine, and then a nasogastric tube will be placed to empty the contents of the stomach. Then, with open surgery or laparoscopic surgery, the stomach can be removed partially or completely. Then the digestive system can be reconstructed by the surgeon, and the incisions are sutured. The complications that can be observed with gastrectomy will be bile reflux, afferent and efferent loop syndrome, anastomotic leak, malnutrition, dumping syndrome, internal hernia, narrowing at the site of attachment, blood clots, post-surgery gastroparesis, and infection.
