Contraceptive pills have two types, which include only progestin pills and combination pills. Morning after pill can be used in emergency situations for the prevention of pregnancy. Contraceptive pill can be more effective in preventing pregnancy. Contraceptive pills consist of hormones that control or reduce ovulation. This pills acts by forming a barrier for the formation of thick cervical mucus, and prevents the penetration of sperm into the uterus. The contraceptive pills are also helpful in the formation of a thin lining in the uterus and thus prevent the implantation of a fertilized ovum inside the wall of the uterus. Contraceptive pills will not act when taken in combination with other medications, such as medications for HIV infection, seizures (fits), and herbal medicines. These pills are used for regulating menstruation and also reducing premenstrual symptoms.
