Contact Lens :
Contact lenses are thin, curved lenses applied directly to the surface of the eye in order to correct various vision problems such as nearsightedness or myopia, farsightedness or hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. Contact lenses can be made from either soft material or rigid gas-permeable material and replace glasses for most lens wearers allowing full peripheral visions since they're applied directly to the eye. Others also wear contact lenses to change their eye color.
The most common conditions requiring contact lenses are refractive errors as the shape of the eye either adversely affects the focus of light falling on the retina or causes the image to fall below the point of fixation. Some general symptoms associated with these conditions include blurry vision, aching in the eyes, headache, and difficulty focusing. When treated with a contact lens prescription and lens size information is provided to an individual after having an eye exam. Contact lenses must be cleaned every day, stored properly in a case, and replaced when necessary to avoid incidences of conjunctivitis or keratitis. Most people adjust well to contact lenses, improper use can be uncomfortable or even painful with dryness or serious eye infections. Patients will still need follow-up examinations with an ophthalmologist to ensure maximum eye health and correction in vision.
