Cervical disc herniation is a condition of the top seven bones of the spine caused by a protruded or ruptured disc. Any bulge or rupture in the ligaments around the disc leads to herniated or a slipped disc. This herniation can be caused by an injury or weakness in the inner portion of the disc. Some of the commonly associated symptoms of cervical disc herniation are pain numbness, pain peaking at nights or with certain movements, tingling,burning sensation of the affected area, and pain worsening with rotating or bending the neck.

This condition can occur as a result of age related degeneration(wear and tear) or due to pressure like twisting, and bending during sport injuries .Treatment of herniated or slip disc depends on the severity involving both pharmacological and surgical intervention.
