Black Eye :
The black eye refers to bruising around the eye. It occurs due to an injury or trauma like when a ball hits the eye, walking into a door, when the face lands on something hard, when someone punches the face, and in a car accident, which can damage blood vessels beneath the skin. A black eye may also develop after the extraction of wisdom teeth, after getting implants, during facelifts, nose surgery, and jaw surgery. Symptoms are pain and swelling around the eye, discoloration, and blurred vision. Signs include double vision, vision loss, blood on the eyeball surface, inability to move the eye, severe headache, loss of consciousness, and blood coming from ears and nose. Complications of the black eye can be bleeding in the eye, broken bones around the eye, dislocated lens, ocular hypertension, retinal detachment, and vitreous hemorrhage. It can be managed by gently placing a bag of crushed ice over a closed eye and repeating it once per hour.
