autism :
Autism will be referred to as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It will be described as a condition of poor development of the brain, thus causing poor perception of persons, social interactions, and communication. There will be signs of autism which need to be identified in children, like playing alone, not responding to their name, no eye contact, having difficulty understanding others' perspectives, not understanding body language, and not understanding social rules. The child keeps repeating movements and words, doesn't like certain textures of foods, doesn't like change in routine, is not interested in moving from one task to another, and has an attachment to unusual objects. Autism will be detected based on genetic testing for identifying gene variations. The paediatrician will diagnose autism through an assessment known as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). The treatment advised for autism will be based on managing the aspects with multiple therapies like behavioural therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and family therapy.
