ASD Surgery :
ASD is called an atrial septal defect. ASD surgery is the treatment procedure to correct the atrial septal defect. ASD is a heart defect in which the opening between the upper two chambers of the heart is not closed, and ASD surgery is used to close that opening. When the opening is small, there is no treatment required, but when the opening is larger, it can cause blood to flow into the wrong chambers of the heart, leading to symptoms such as enlargement of heart, abnormal heart rhythms, heart failure, shortness of breath, high pressure in lungs, stroke. In the procedure of ASD surgery, the opening is covered with patch of synthetic material or own body tissue, then plugged with a closure device and then it is sutured. The benefits of ASD surgery are the reduction of complications and the protection of the heart and lungs. The complications associated with ASD surgery involve allergies, bleeding, kidney failure, damage to heart tissues, and stroke.
