Ankle Fracture :
An ankle fracture is also known as a broken ankle. Ankle fracture will be observed in case of injury to any of the bones that are present in the ankle joint. There are various types of ankle fractures, like medial malleolus fractures, lateral malleolus fractures, bimalleolar equivalent fractures, bimalleolar fractures, trimalleolar fractures, posterior malleolus fractures, pilon fractures, syndesmotic injuries, and Maisonneuve fractures. The ankle fracture will be caused due to many reasons like road accidents, tripping and falling, while playing sports, falling from heights, and rolling of the ankle. The symptoms that will be observed in an ankle fracture include being unable to put weight on the ankle, severe pain in the ankle, bruising, and swelling of the ankle. The diagnostic tests that will be done to detect the ankle fracture will be physical examination, X-ray of the ankle, MRI scan, bone scan, and CT scan. Ankle fractures will be corrected through surgical treatment with screws and pins.
