Nephritis :
Nephritis is a renal condition caused by a group of diseases leading to inflammation in the kidney. It refers to inflammation in all parts of the kidney which include glomerulus, tubules, or interstitial tissue. There are many causes for nephritis such as infections, toxins but most common cause remains the auto immunity. Common infections are streptococcal, viral infections and HIV. Autoimmune conditions causing nephritis are IgA nephropathy, lupus, vasculitis, diabetic nephropathy, etc.
This inflammation causes injury to the glomerular structures, leading to reduced blood flow to the kidneys there by reducing the urinary output. This will cause building up of waste products in the body due to lack of proper filtration. The damaged glomeruli will cause leak of blood cells into the urine. Symptoms are low amount of urine, dark coloured urine, blood in urine, edema in different parts of the body, nausea and vomiting, easy fatigue. Treatment include anti inflammatory drugs and lifestyle management.
