A neonatologist is a specialist doctor who will give medical care to newborn babies or infants in case of premature birth or with congenital abnormalities. A neonatologist is qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by post-graduation in MD or DNB in pediatrics. Further specialized with a super specialty in DM in neonatology. A neonatologist is highly skilled in providing treatments such as nutritional support, respiratory support, jaundice treatment, congenital disorders treatment, infection control, surgical treatments, blood transfusions, cerebral function monitoring, and therapeutic hypothermia. The conditions that will be managed by a neonatologist will be neonatal infections, premature birth with low birth weight, congenital heart defects, neonatal seizures, feeding issues, digestive problems, and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. When there are symptoms such as breathing issues, feeding issues, infections, jaundice, skin rashes, fever, lethargy in newborn babies, all these should be treated by a neonatologist.
