A drug allergy specialist is known as an immunologist who will deal with the diagnosis and management of allergies that occur due to drugs, also known as adverse effects of drugs. A drug allergy specialist is qualified with a graduation in MBBS, followed by post-graduation, MD in general medicine or pediatrics. Further specialized with a fellowship in allergy and clinical immunology. A drug allergy specialist is mainly focused on managing reactions caused by drugs, such as allergic reactions to antibiotics like penicillin, anaphylaxis, reactions to multiple medicines, and delayed drug reactions, and also specializes in managing allergies like eczema, asthma, and allergic rhinitis. The drug allergy specialist can perform skin allergy tests to identify the allergens and also guide patients to control the triggers that cause allergies.
