Vaginismus :

Vaginismus is an involuntary tension or contraction of the vagina interfering with intercourse or other vaginal penetrations such as tampons, menstrual cups etc. Individuals with this condition may experience symptoms such as pain during intercourse (may range from mild to severe), penetrations difficulties during intercourse, pain during any gynecological examinations, a sensation that ranges from mild discomfort to burning, and pain during tampon insertion.

Vaginismus can occur due to physical stress, that may happen as result of child birth , pelvic surgeries and also due to certain conditions such as menopause pause, UTI's etc. Additionally individuals may experience this condition due to emotional stress including anxiety, fear about sexual performance, child hood trauma, previous experiences etc. Some of the possible treatment options for this condition include Relaxation techniques, pelvic floor exercises, and psychosexual therapy.
