Vaginal Dryness :

The loss of normal moisture from the vagina is referred to as Vaginal Dryness. Although this condition can occur in females of all ages, it is one of the most common complaint expressed by older women particularly after menopause.

Drastic drop of estrogen levels in the body is considered as the primary causative factor of vaginal dryness, while factors like excessive stress, depression, strenuous physical activity, child birth, immune disorders, and cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy also contribute to the the dryness.

Vaginal dryness is associated with symptoms such as irritation, itching, pain during intercourse, burning sensation and discomfort during physical activity. Treatment involves a combination of over the counter medications, topical estrogen therapy and certain lifestyle modifications.
