Sunken Eyes :
Sunken eyes are a common eye condition characterized by eyes appearing dark, hollow, or sunken. It is also known as enophthalmos. The common signs of sunken eyes are double vision, difficulty in focusing, asymmetry of facial features, sagging upper eyelids, deep grooves in the eyelid, and eye dryness. Sunken eyes occur due to changes in the size of the orbit of the eye because of reasons like fractures in the bones around the eyes and silent sinus syndrome, changes in contents of the eye socket due to vascular problems, long-term radiation therapy, and scleroderma and changes in the size of the eye caused due to cancer metastasis, severe eye damage, and congenital fibrosis syndrome. Sunken eyes should be managed by treating the causative factor for the condition, including starting new medications or not taking the current medications, and by surgical intervention.
