Rheumatoid arthritis :
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic medical condition that affects the lining of the joints of the body and is a type of arthritis. This is an autoimmune disease and majorly affects the joints of hands, fingers, wrists, ankles, knees, toes, and feet. The presenting complaints of rheumatoid arthritis are pain, stiffness, tenderness, and swelling in joints, fatigue, especially seen in the mornings and lasts for long hours, fever, and weakness. The risk factors associated with rheumatoid arthritis include a similar family history, a chronic smoking habit, and obesity. To diagnose rheumatoid arthritis, various imaging techniques like X-rays, ultrasounds, and MRI scans are used, along with blood investigations to evaluate erythrocyte sedimentation rate, rheumatoid factor, cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies, and CRP. The management of rheumatoid arthritis involves various methods like prescribing medications and surgical procedures such as hip replacement, knee replacement, and other procedures, to correct a deformity.
