Renal Stone in Adults :
Renal stones, also known as kidney stones, refer to hard salts and minerals deposit found in the kidneys. The renal stones can be of any size. Passing through the urinary tract causes severe pains. The condition may be caused by many factors including dehydration, disorders of diet, obesity, and other medical conditions that elevate the levels of calcium or uric acid. Most common symptoms of this include pain in the back or sides, blood in urine and urination, and nausea. It is through ultrasound or CT scans that this condition can be diagnosed based on the location of the stones. It is the kind and size of the stones that determine the kind of treatment or procedures available. Such procedures range from intake increase of fluids, medication to help manage the pain, to lithotripsy, which in its procedure breaks stones into smaller pieces to be passed along and out of the body easily. Preventive measures usually call for diet adjustment and hydration.
