Phototherapy :
Phototherapy is a treatment procedure. It can be done using light therapy for treating jaundice, which is observed in newborn babies. During the procedure of phototherapy, UV light will be exposed to the skin of the baby. There are many kinds of UV lights, such as UVB (ultraviolet light B) and UVA (ultraviolet light A). There are other types of phototherapy lights, such as blue light therapy and red light therapy. Phototherapy will be indicated for the treatment of conditions such as vitiligo, psoriasis, eczema, morphea, and itching mucocutaneous fungoides. The benefits of phototherapy will be the prevention of relapses and flare-ups of eczema and dermatitis, the reduction of skin inflammation, and the control of itching. The duration of exposure to light in phototherapy will depend on the size of the area that is affected on the body. The side effects that are noticed after the phototherapy will be redness over the skin, which will subside within 24 hours, blisters over the skin, and dryness of the skin.
