Obesity :
Obesity is a condition described as a heavier body weight than the ideal weight of a person. Generally, obesity is caused by an imbalance between calorie intake and expenditure of energy, leading to excess body weight. The common causes of obesity are inheritance, physical activity levels, diet, hormonal factors, metabolic factors, and environmental factors. This obesity leads to various health problems such as type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, cancers, etc. Obesity also affects the self esteem of an individual and also affects the mental health. The diagnosis of levels of obesity is done by measuring the body mass index (BMI). The treatment of obesity includes changes in diet, engaging in physical activity, lifestyle changes, coming out of unwanted stress, joining in support groups, and in severe cases medication and surgical treatment are indicated. The other treatment options used to treat obesity are vagal nerve blockage, hydrogels, and gastric aspirate.
