Nystagmus :
Nystagmus is an eye condition that causes rapid and uncontrolled movements of the eyes. There will be various types of nystagmus, which include acquired nystagmus and congenital nystagmus. Nystagmus will be seen with other health conditions such as a brain tumor, head injury, stroke, any inflammatory diseases, and toxicity. The major symptom of nystagmus will be uncontrolled and rapid movements of the eyes. The other symptoms of nystagmus will be sensitivity to light, blurred vision, dizziness, vertigo, balance problems, and a feeling of moving surroundings. The causes and risk factors of nystagmus will be optic nerve disorders, brain tumors, developmental problems of the eye and brain, stroke, inner ear problems, eye problems, astigmatism, consumption of alcohol, albinism, and certain medications. The diagnosis of nystagmus will be made through eye examination, and the patient should consult a neurologist to diagnose the condition of the brain. The management done for nystagmus will be based on the cause of the condition, and it includes medications, eyeglasses or contact lenses, eye muscle surgery, and eye vision correction surgery.
