NCS :
NCS is known as a nerve conduction study. It will be described as a diagnostic procedure which can be done for evaluating the functioning of peripheral nerves. NCS can be helpful for the diagnosis of any damage to the peripheral nerves. Peripheral nerves will be situated outside of the spinal cord and brain. NCS is advised to diagnose conditions like peripheral neuropathy, nerve compression syndromes, such as sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, meralgia paresthetica, thoracic outlet syndrome, and radial tunnel syndrome. NCS will also help with the testing of the transmission of signals in the nerves by using electrodes, which are taped to the skin along the pathway of nerves. During the procedure of the NCS test, the nerves are stimulated with mild electrical shock and electrodes are used to record the passage of electric current through the nerve. In case of healthy nerves, the electric current will pass at a speed of 120 miles per hour, but in case of damaged nerves, the electric current will pass more slowly than that.
