Myomectomy :
Myomectomy is preferred over hysterectomy in women who still wants to get pregnant and bear children. Not all uterine fibroids require myomectomy, depending on location, size and number of myomas. The surgery can be done as an open surgery by an incision to lower abdomen, laparoscopic surgery, robotic myomectomy or Hysteroscopic myomectomy.
Laparoscopic and robotic myomectomy are minimally invasive technique where small incision is made to remove myomas. Hysteroscopic myomectomy refers to removal of fibroids using a hysteroscope inserted through vagina and does not require any cut to the body. Complications include excess bleeding, scar tissue formation, infertility, etc.
