Multiple sclerosis in adults :
Multiple sclerosis or MS is an autoimmune neurological condition in which the coverings of central nervous system are damaged leading to demyelination, axonal damage thus leading to various sensory ,motor and autonomic symptoms. The exact cause of MS is not known but it may be due to destruction by immune system ,genetics, environmental factors, viral infections etc.,Signs and symptoms depends on the area and cells where demyelination occurs and it includes vision problems(double vision, blurred vision), fatigue, muscle weakness, balance and coordination problems, cognition difficulties, bladder and bowel dysfunction, mood disorders, swallowing and speech difficulties etc. Diagnosis is made by symptoms and imaging like MRI can be used to detect demyelinating regions. Management is to manage the symptoms and prevent progression and prevent further attacks.
