Kidney infection :
The kidneys are essential organs that filter the wastes from the blood and perform other key functions. When bacteria or other microbes travel into the kidney and start overgrowing, it is called a kidney infection. An affected individual may feel pain while urinating and experience changes in the frequency of urination. Other symptoms include pain in the sides, foamy urine, blood in the urine and lower back pain. Kidney infections can also cause chills and fever.
The diagnosis of a kidney infection involves a kidney ultrasound or CT scan. A doctor will also order a urine test. Kidney infections are commonly treated using antibiotic medication. However, other medications may be prescribed depending on the underlying infection. If the symptoms don't improve or if the infection is severe, then the individual may need to be hospitalized.
