Keratitis :
It is defined as an inflammation of the cornea. Classification of keratitis Based on several factors, classification of keratitis has been done. They are divided based on the causative agent, the pathogenesis of the disease, and lastly on the basis of clinical presentation. The most common forms of infection relate to all types of infection especially those caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. The others happen because of trauma as well as diseases targeting parts of the body like autoimmune disorders. The symptoms of keratitis include red eyes, pain, and dimness in the vision, photophobia or sensitivity of the eyes to light, tearing in excess, and grittiness. It is most likely caused by herpes simplex virus and is a recurrent condition since bacterial keratitis threatens a patient's vision within very short notice. The full test of the eyes will diagnose the condition. It should be stained with corneal dye to measure the extent of the damage. Based on the etiology, bacterial infection will require antibiotic eye drops. For viral infection, an antiviral medicine will also be administered. Severe infection will also be given Corticosteroid eye drops to reduce inflammation.
