HPV :
HPV or Human Papilloma Virus affects the genitals and results in formation of warts on various parts of the body. These genital warts are cauliflower like lumps, rough in texture which grow on the skin and may sometimes appear as skin tags. Genital warts spread easily and cause itching sensation and discomfort. HPV also causes other types of infections such as flat warts, plantar warts, subungal warts and periungal warts on other parts of the body. HPV virus spreads through sexual contact and people suffering HIV infection do not have the immunity to fight against the HPV virus. If left untreated, HPV virus may induce potential complications such as penile cancer, throat cancer, vaginal cancer, anal cancer and vulvar cancer. The treatment methods to deal with with HPV infection include cryosurgery, loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP), electrocautery, cold knife cone biopsy, laser therapy and trichloroacetic acid (TCA).
