Heart Rhythm Disorder :
Heart rhythm disorder, also called cardiac arrhythmia, is characterized by the heart not beating in a regular fashion. Heart rhythm disorders are categorized into several types such as supraventricular arrhythmias, ventricular arrhythmias, junctional rhythms and bradyarrhythmia. The symptoms of heart rhythm disorder include heart palpitations, chest discomfort, dizziness, weakness or fatigue, shortness of breath and fainting episodes. The causative factors of heart rhythm disorder include irritable tissue in the heart, changes in the heart muscle, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, injury from a heart attack, valve disorders, electrolyte imbalances, other health problems, and the healing process after a heart surgery. Heart rhythm disorder is managed by various treatment methods such as medications, therapies like cardioversion, catheter ablation, and pulmonary vein isolation, lifestyle changes, devices such as permanent pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), and biventricular pacemakers and defibrillators and surgical procedures like maze procedure and coronary artery bypass surgery.
