Heart Failure
Heart failure (HF) is a medical condition in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood to the body's requirement which leads to various signs ans symptoms like easy fatigue, swelling in the legs, ankles and feet,exercise intolerence and shortness of breath, rapid or irregular heartbeat, coughing up pink and frothy mucus, lightheadedness or dizziness, weight gain due to fluid retention in the legs, chest, around the lungs etc. Heart failure develops slowly over a period of time and occurs due to various conditions like coronary artery disease (CAD), high blood pressure (hypertension), smoking, alcoholism, diabetes, obesity, cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease), infections like myocarditis etc. Heart failure has to diagnosed early and prevent its further progression by lifestyle changes like diet, exercise,cessation of smoking ,medications and surgery (heart transplantation,VADs,CABG) may be done in severe cases.
