Candidiasis :
Candidiasis is a fungal infection that is observed near skin, mouth and vagina. Candidiasis is classified into several types such as oral candidiasis or thrush, nail candidiasis, vaginal candidiasis and cutaneous candidiasis. The presenting complains of candidiasis vary depending on the affected region of the body and kind of the infection. The symptoms of candidiasis include abnormal vaginal discharge, burning sensation in the throat, difficulty in swallowing, white patches or sores in the mouth and throat, skin rash with small, raised bumps, loss of taste, skin itching, pain and soreness in the throat. The overgrowth of a yeast called Candida albicans leads to the development of candidiasis. The treatment methods to deal with candidiasis includes antifungal medications that are to be taken orally or as ointments and topical creams. The risk factors associated with candidiasis include use of catheters and dentures, diabetes, admitting in hospitals, pregnancy, and also affects newborns and infants.
