Blood Cancer :
Blood cancer is a condition that causes abnormal blood cells to grow at a rapid rate in the body. It occurs when the DNA of the blood cells changes and instructs the abnormal cells to multiply rapidly. Eventually, the body has more abnormal blood cells than functioning blood cells. The condition causes symptoms like tiredness, shortness of breath, frequent infections, and swollen lymph nodes. It can also cause symptoms like bone and joint pain, persistent fever, night sweats, and unexplained weight loss. To diagnose blood cancer, a doctor may require blood tests for cancer, biopsy of the bone marrow and imaging tests like CT scan and MRI. There are many different treatment options for blood cancer, including immunotherapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and targeted therapy. A doctor may also recommend bone marrow transplant treatments such as allogeneic stem cell transplant and autologous stem cell transplant.
