Astigmatism :

Astigmatism is a medical condition in which is a type of refractive error. It is due to the sub-optimal curvature of cornea/lens than required, which in-turn causes blurred vision. Astigmatism is typically managed with corrective lens. The common symptoms are visualizing glares around lights, headaches, and dizziness. Astigmatism is caused by eye injuries, or due to post-operative complications. It is diagnosed by special vision tests like slit-lamp and vision acuity tests. If the astigmatism is mild, there is no need of any intervention. A ophthalmologist corrects the curvature and vision problem using corrective lens/glasses. However, to completely manage this condition surgical approaches such as vision correction with either LASIK or PRK is preferred. A routine vision exam is highly recommended to evaluate and correct any further complications.
