Amnesia :
Amnesia is the serious loss of memory. There are various types of amnesia, such as transient global amnesia, dissociative amnesia, retrograde amnesia, infantile amnesia, post-traumatic amnesia, and anterograde amnesia. The amnesia will be caused due to many causes, such as psychological causes like post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative amnesia, and neurological causes, including brain tumours, alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, head injuries, viral infections, stroke, and certain medications. The symptoms observed in amnesia include difficulty in remembering faces and names, difficulty in remembering locations, an inability to remember events that happened to them, and an inability to remember upcoming activities or events. The amnesia is diagnosed through neurological examination, physical examination, MRI scan, blood tests, CT scan, electroencephalogram (EEG), spinal tap or lumbar puncture. The treatment for amnesia will be through medications, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, and supportive care to perform daily activities.
