Amblyopia :
Amblyopia is called lazy eye. Amblyopia is an eye condition that can affect the eyes, leading to blurred vision in one eye. In case of amblyopia, that eye will be ignored, and the other eye will be used for clear vision, which will cause the weakening of the eye, leading to blurred vision. The amblyopia will be caused due to many reasons, such as refractive errors like farsightedness, astigmatism, and nearsightedness. The amblyopia can be caused by strabismus, cornea issues, structural eye problems, including droopy eyelids, cataracts. The symptoms that will be observed in amblyopia will be squinting of the eye, droopy eyelids, bumps onto objects, tilting of the head on one side more frequently, and crossed eyes. The diagnosis for amblyopia will be based on the checkup done by an eye care specialist during the routine eye examination. The treatment advised for amblyopia will be with eye patching, eyeglasses, and medicated eye drops. In rare conditions, eye surgery is indicated in order to correct the amblyopia. There will be risk factors that increase the risk of amblyopia, including developmental delays, family history, low birth weight, and premature birth.
