Otomycosis :
Otomycosis is a mycotic ( mycotic = fungal ) infection of the outer ear canal. Otomycosis is caused by fungi (related to yeast and mushrooms). It commonly occurs in tropical regions. Otomycosis may be either subacute or acute. Common symptoms include itching in the ear, severe discomfort or ear pain, inflammation, mal odorous discharge, pruritus, scaling . The mycosis results in exfoliation of outer epithelium , superfical surfaces exfoliate, inflammation, masses of hyphae, suppuration , and pain. this fungal infection may can also lead to hearing loss. Causes of Otomycosis - Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus fumigatus, Penicillium and Candida albicans. Signs and symptoms include pressure type of pain tender to traction or tragal pressure. Otoscopy is the best diagnosis.
