Esophageal varices :
Esophageal varices are enlarged, swollen veins located around the esophagus. These varices may be small or large and severity of the condition varies with size of the varices. Portal hypertension being the most common cause of Esophageal varices, liver cirrhosis or liver scarring, parasitic infection and Thrombosis also contribute to this condition.
Individuals with Esophageal varices encounter symptoms such as blood in vomit, pale skin, black stools, blood in stools, shortness of breath, tiredness, and fatigue. Certain measures such as reducing the intake of alcohol, maintaining a healthy weight, consuming healthy balanced meals, and being cautious with certain chemicals can help prevent the condition.
