Blood in Sputum :
Hemoptysis refers to a situation where patients cough up blood or contain blood streaked in the mucus of their respiratory tract. It can be minor even to small streaks of blood or even a significant amount of blood. Some infections particularly bronchitis or pneumonia are among its causes and cases include chronic bronchiectasis or COPD. Tuberculosis, lung cancer, or pulmonary embolism are the most serious cases. Of those patients, the most cause of hemoptysis is bronchiectasis, chronic bronchitis or asthma. Other causes may be trauma or some drugs. Other symptoms may be cough and chest or distress in breathing with hemoptysis. Diagnosis of a cause is made by a radiography of chest X-ray, CT, or bronchoscopy. Their conditions are basically mild so, treatment would include antibiotics when a case of infection occurs, however more serious conditions which involve much or a big amount of blood call for a more serious approach. Bloody hematuria should not be neglected.
