PCOD :
Polycystic ovarian disease is known as PCOD . PCOD is a hormonal disease which affects the reproductive hormones present in the females. PCOD also known as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). PCOD causing of several cysts in the ovaries, which leads to irregular menstrual cycles, and imbalances in hormone levels. The symptoms that are observed in PCOD are irregularity of periods, multiple cysts in ovaries, high levels of androgen, leading to facial hair and body hair, acne on skin, and hair loss causing baldness. The complications that are seen in PCOD can be fertility issues, premature deliveries, abortions, gestational diabetes, sleep apnea, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, endometrial cancer. The most common complication in PCOD is obesity. The diagnosis of PCOD is done through blood tests, examination of pelvis, ultrasound scan of uterus. Management of PCOD is done by treating with medications, progestin therapy, symptomatic relief treatments. There are some life style modifications to be done such as having a healthy weight, regular physical exercise, and consuming less carbohydrates in food.
