Dysmenorrhea :
Dysmenorrhea can be described as the pain during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea can also be called painful periods or menstrual cramps. There are two main types of dysmenorrhea such as primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea are the menstrual cramps which occurs during menstrual cycles or periods and without any underlying medical condition. In this type, pain will be start before one or two days before periods and pain will be mild to severe in lower abdomen or pelvis region, there will be pain in thighs and back and subsides after the completion of periods. In case of secondary dysmenorrhea, there will be painful periods which can occur due to infection in reproductive organs. Pain starts during the periods and pain continues for longer duration. The other symptoms that are seen when there is dysmenorrhea include pain in abdomen, inner thighs, hips, lower back region, dizziness, pressure in the abdomen, nausea, and headaches. The management of dysmenorrhea can be done with medications to relieve pain, getting rest, hormonal medications, massaging lower back and lower abdomen, and using a heating pad in the areas of pain.
