Neonatologist :
A neonatologist is a doctor who provides care for newborn babies who are either premature or low-weight babies and have medical conditions which need to be attended almost as soon as they have been born. They treat neonatal health issues like respiratory problems, infections, heart defects, or metabolic disorders. Neonatologists work in a special area known as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and they monitor and manage serious care for infants who require sophisticated treatments or surgeries. A neonatologist pursues a MBBS degree and then later on, pursues a master's degree in paediatrics by gaining a degree of MD in Pediatrics before specializing further with internship or training in neonatology. Neonatologist regularly check on the status of the baby, offer treatments which are found necessary, monitors growth, and performs a basic examination when the baby gets admitted to the NICU. They also closely work with the parents and provide the right direction on how to take care of their new-born. Neonatologists play a very significant role in offering fragile new-borns the best possible chance for a healthy growth and beginning of life.
