Gastrectomy :
Gastrectomy is a surgical treatment for stomach cancer patients in which a total or portion of the stomach is removed. The removal of the stomach depends on the extent of the cancer. It is also recommended for patients having stomach ulcers and obesity. It is surgically treated with a skilled specialist gastroenterologist surgeon or surgical oncologist. The benefits of this procedure are that it reduces the risk of cancer in suspected areas, improves digestion, and provides quality of life. Additionally, like some other surgeries it has disadvantages and patients experience post operative symptoms of bleeding, infection, nutritional deficiency and other gastro symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other associated symptoms.
