Shoulder Dislocation :
The upper round ball of the upper arm bone fits into the socket of the shoulder blade and forms the shoulder joint. Displacement or dislocation of the ball-like bone from the socket(glenoid) shoulder blade (scapula) is called shoulder dislocation. A person with shoulder dislocation experiences extreme pain, weakness, inability to move the hand, swelling, discoloration, muscle spasms, weakness in arm, hand or fingers. It can be caused by falls, car accidents, and sports injuries. It can be diagnosed through physical examination by an Orthopedic, x-ray, and MRI. Treatment plans include immobilization, rest, medication, physical therapy, closed reduction and surgery if needed. Early or immediate consultation of an Orthopedic is recommended instead to trying to relocate the shoulder by self to avoid complications like bone fractures, ligament and tendon sprains, nerve damage, muscle strains, and damage to blood vessels.
