Larynx Surgery :
Larynx surgery is a surgical procedure to treat larynx for management of various underlying medical conditions. Some of the common conditions include laryngeal cancers, polyps or nodules affecting speech and airway, vocal cord paralysis, narrowed larynx or trachea causing airway obstruction. An ENT surgeon or a specialist conducts preoperative evaluation and provides complete patient counseling on the larynx surgical procedures. Microlaryngoscopy and laryngoscopy are performed prior to larynx surgery for diagnostic evaluation. Post larynx surgery, a hospital stay of a few days is recommended for continuous surveillance. Pain management and voice rest are advised to manage the postoperative discomfort. Scheduled follow-ups with an ENT surgeon is essential to eliminate any potential for complications such as bleeding, infections, voice changes and difficulty in swallowing.
