FESS :
FESS defined as Functional Endoscopy sinus surgery, is a minimally invasive procedure performed to treat chronic sinusitis and other sinus disorders. FESS typically involves inserting a is a thin long flexible tube called as the endoscope into the nasal passages allowing the surgeon to appreciate and directly access the sinus opening. During this procedure the surgeons employ specialised instruments to remove diseased tissues, polyps and blockages that may be causing the sinus obstruction and inflammation.
The primary goal of FESS is to restore normal sinus ventilation and drainage and addressing symptoms such as difficulty breathing, facial pain and nasal congestion. This surgical procedure is preferred over the traditional sinus surgery, as it results in faster recovery, less pain and reduced risk of complications. FESS is highly recommended in patients who have not responded to medications and it can significantly improve quality of life by alleviating the symptoms of chronic sinusitis.
